PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Safe-Hub has three major programs for youth and families in Kensington/Harrowgate. Click on each program for additional details and for information on how to register or get involved.

EduSoccer Program: Safe-Hub’s EduSoccer Program provides high-quality soccer programming that combines physical activity with skills development in areas like respect, teamwork, emotional management, and perseverance.

PlayMaker Program: Safe-Hub’s PlayMaker Program engages young people in on- and off-field skills-development activities to support future readiness for high school students. This program provides a paid opportunity for young people to gain skills and experience to support their career and/or further education goals—all through playing soccer.

Collective Impact Program: Safe-Hub partners with like-minded local community organizations to act as a resource hub for families to access support such as housing and utility assistance, food distribution, mental health support, and more at Safe-Hub programming.

EDUSOCCER

There are three registration options for the EduSoccer Program to align with appropriate development levels of participants:

  • FUNdamentals: For early elementary school-aged players (ages 4-7) who are new to soccer. Players will be introduced to soccer and other physical activity/games in a play-based environment.

  • Recreational: For middle elementary to high school-aged players (ages 8-18) interested in playing more soccer in a noncompetitive environment. The program is focused on skills-building and small-sided games.

  • Footskills FC: For late elementary to high school-aged soccer players (ages 8-18) with experience who are looking to challenge themselves! This program will introduce players to a more traditional training environment.

**Register for fall!

PLAYMAKER

The PlayMaker Program is a high-commitment program for high school students ages 14-18. Participants must be members of a Safe-Hub EduSoccer team (twice-weekly training) and commit to attending additional days of off-field workshops. Players must apply and interview for the PlayMaker Program. Participants receive a stipend for involvement.

For more information on joining the PlayMaker Program, please reach out to Andalyn Young.

  • April | Scanlon Community Clean Up: Safe-Hub’s 5th annual community clean-up into the neighborhood with a further reach and scope of work alongside a large collective of partners and volunteers.
  • June | Safe-Hub’s FairPlay Cup:  At the end of Safe-Hub’s major seasons, we host a tournament with other values-based partners that centers sportsmanship and FairPlay values and creates a fun opportunity for competition and community.
  • August 8 | Back-to-School Block Party: Kick-off to the school year with backpacks, school supplies, and family resources to ease the back-to-school financial burdens and set students up for success.
  • October 30 | Trunk-or-Treat: A family-friendly evening of activities, candy, costumes, and more resources to keep our public space active and safe for children from around the neighborhood.
  • December 12 | WinterFest: A year end community fair with over 20 partners, distribution of warm clothes and toys, and skating and holiday-themed activities for the community.
