Safe-Hub provides a physically and emotionally safe space for young people to access opportunities and support through programs ranging from early childhood through high school and beyond. As a place-based organization, we operate at the Safe-Hub Community campus at our state-of-the-art indoor soccer field next to Scanlon Playground in Kensington/Harrowgate.
Our goal is to bring high-quality programming and supportive services to our community: a one-stop-shop for families to receive support through the stigma-free platform of coming to soccer practice and community events.

High-quality soccer programming that combines physical activity with skills development in areas like respect, teamwork, emotional management, and perseverance.
On- and off-field skills development for high school students: a paid opportunity to gain skills and experience for career and further education goals, all through playing soccer.
Partnering with local community organizations so families can access housing and utility assistance, food distribution, mental health support, and more at Safe-Hub programming.
Beginning in August 2020, the local Philly team activated Safe-Hub’s life-skills-through-soccer curriculum, first engaging 35 young people during the depths of COVID-19 and now reaching over 3,000 young people and family members annually from Kensington and beyond.
Safe-Hub’s approach is rooted in the belief that long-term impact requires a consistent presence. Most participants live within a short drive or walking distance of the campus, which combines an indoor turf field, classrooms, meeting rooms, and two outdoor fields. Every corner is designed to feel accessible and dignified, reinforcing that Safe-Hub is a lasting part of Kensington.
